BILL MILLER HOME

This group of songs is more like a journal than any other recording project I've worked on. It covers a period of three and a half years. In those times of searching, perseverance and healing, I gained clarity and answers to questions I've turned away from for years. Chronicles of Hope was not industry driven in any way - in fact I became my own stenographer and my notes became my songs. I questioned life and death. I cried out from the wilderness in my own personal storms. I whitewater rafted down the dark rivers into the eternal. I opened myself up to myself and turned away from the mirror many times during the making of this recording only to come back to accept and abandon things that were holding me back. I saw first hand how psychotic songwriters can be. I should have charged myself for counseling fees. I do believe that this work is an honest portrait of me as an artist. Not just a Native American artist but as a human being.

My faith in God was strengthened in the making of this project. That's why I put the word hope in the title. My producer and co-writer Judson Spence took me into places I'd never been before. Working with Jud was like walking into a Van Gogh painting and watching it come to life around us as we created each song in an abstract landscape. We weren’t worried about the outcome. I need to stay in touch with that kind of innocence. For a while I thought this project would never see the light of day. I hope this album opens some closed areas of your life like it did to me.

Bill Miller is an award-winning recording artist, performer, songwriter, activist, painter, and world-class accomplished flute player. Over the past four years, Miller has produced two incredible albums, received a Grammy Award and led Wisconsin’s La Crosse Symphony Orchestra, a member of the League of American Orchestras.
